All money raised from the sale of the book will go to a fund to purchase a plaque for Frankie at The American Cinematheque in Hollywood. It would be great to get him a star on the walk of fame, but the cost is much too high. I've already purchased one plaque for my late friend Steve Monzo. Frankie's will be on the seat next to Steve's. I want to sincerely thank the people who have already donated to this fund.

The first full length biography of actor Frankie Darro.

Frankie was the cinema’s first youthful action hero.
His career spanned an amazing six decades. Frankie's favorite film was the William Wellman classic, Wild Boys of the Road. The author was granted access to the daily production reports to this film, which gives the reader a day to day accounting of the making of this film. Frankie made cinema history with his screen partner Mantan Moreland in a series of eight comedy-mysteries they made for Monogram Studios in the early 1940's. Frankie worked with Hollywood legends such as, Clark Gable, Frank Capra, Bing Crosby, Jean Harlow, and many others.

Frankie's excessive use of alcohol caused a personal and professional downward spiral that he never recovered from, however his films live on and are readily accessible today.

The book includes scores of rare photos and the most complete filmography ever published.

The book was written by John Gloske who was a friend of Frankie’s during the final four years of
Frankie’s life.
